Ace Hotel London approached Knot & Pop to help concept, produce and style a wedding showcase at their rooftop space to promote the venue for the wedding market, and modern minded couple. We worked with Ace Hotel to develop an alternative event to the homogeneous wedding fair. Named A Thoroughly Modern Marriage, we carefully curated the event to highlight all the event spaces at Ace Hotel, whilst giving guests the most immersive experience, to inspire and excite them on their wedding journey. This inaugural annual wedding event was carefully crafted to inspire even the most creative brides and grooms. With over 200 guests in attendance, the event was a knock-out success. ‘Definitely the best, most beautifully curated wedding event I have ever been to.’
From pre-wedding fitness tips by FRAME, to women’s styling from The Outnet, menswear by Whistles, Lamplighter London calligraphy, flowers by the brilliant Hattie Fox at That Flower Shop, Laura Lee’s exquisite jewellery, Halfpenny London’s beautiful bridalwear, honeymooning with Patchwork, cake, decorations, photography sessions and so much more…
An early-evening panel discussion took place in the jaw-dropping 100 Room, with a ceremony inspired configuration to show guests how the space could work for their wedding day. The panel discussion focussed on ‘What Makes A Thoroughly Modern Marriage’, with panelists including Danielle Pender (Riposte), Kate Halfpenny (Halfpenny London), Pip Black (FRAME) and Olivia Knight (Patchwork), chaired by Ace Hotel.
To set the scene for dining, we styled two tablescapes, distinctly different in theme and colour scheme, with product from House of Hackney and SCP (wedding gift lists available) to allow guests to sit down to have ‘mini mains’ and experience the expert catering at Ace Hotel. Menus were designed by Lamplighter London with alternative wedding guest place cards such as ‘The Moonwalker’, ‘Hot Mess’, ‘Miss Behaving’, ‘The Lush’. The adjoining room was set out as lounge area with Wedding Smashers spinning the tunes, and The Flash Pack with all the fun of Photo Booth action.
With it being National Donut Day we also couldn’t resist getting Ace Hotel to make donut balls, covered in gold foil and confetti sprinkles, of course.
All guests left with a copy of A Thoroughly Modern Marriage newspaper with information from Ace Hotel, the suppliers on show, and tips from us with a rather lovely planning calendar designed by Lamplighter London, and written by Knot & Pop.
