Our couple celebrated their wedding in between Christmas and New Year, at a gorgeous Castle venue in Scotland. With the venue booked in July, we had five months to plan and deliver their dream day. We worked with them to find their dream team of suppliers, and devised their event design to style their day to perfection. Focussing on a modern interpretation of the classic White Winter Wedding, the event design was contemporary, chic and luxurious in tone – with snowfall as the ideal finishing touch. And with such a fun couple, we made sure there were twists and surprises throughout the day!
To set the scene, the stationery design carried a monochrome palette, with graphic typography, off-set with clean-line lettering. The invitation suite was finished with black wax seal stamp with the couple’s monogram.
The day started with a Grooms Reception with warming mulled wine, with a Piper then leading all guests to the ceremony hall to start the Humanist ceremony. The ceremony space was dressed with chairs circling the couple, who stood in the middle of the room surrounded by lengths of pampas grass and foliage. Candlelight flanked the aisle to create an atmospheric and intimate feel. A confetti bar with hand-lettered messages was on hand for guests to take a handful to throw on the couple as they emerged as Mr & Mrs!
With a String Quartet playing through the Drinks Reception, guests enjoyed locally sourced canapes in the Castle, before moving through to Dinner in the Great Hall. An interactive table plan offered guests not just the way to their seat, but also a treat, with acorn and pine nut ceramic baubles as gifts within boxes. Organic draping, finished with foliage ends cascaded across the ceiling with chandeliers dripping in foliage. The monochrome design continued across table tops with black and white chairs mixing with white linen cloths, foliage filled bottles with candles, hand-made foliage votives and winter florals.
During dinner, a Couples Quiz took place, with the winning table receiving a bottle of bubbly. A great end to the dinner with winners announced, and then the cutting of the cake. After dinner, the Guest Book Wall was in action as guests posted messages to the couple, and the Photo Booth captured the fun of the evening’s celebrations. A bespoke backdrop by Knot & Pop was created for the Photo Booth with hand-lettered ceramic baubles allowing guests to create their own message to the couple, to remember their day by.
Following an energetic ceilidh, a DJ played from a custom-made booth, and trays of glow-sticks were handed out by ushers to get everyone glowing on the dance-floor! Congratulations Karen & Simon!
