Scotland Island Wedding

Kaley & Ben

Where to start with Ben & Kaley’s amazing Scottish adventure? Let’s start with them. They live in Kansas and are creative to the core – Kaley is an amazing photographer and Ben a talented graphic designer. They contacted Knot & Pop in March, wanting to celebrate their wedding in Scotland in July, that same year, so we had just 4 months to make their dreams a reality.

From finding the unique homestay on mainland Scotland, where they and their guests enjoyed all manner of activities ahead of the wedding day itself, to finding the most unique location to use as their wedding reception venue, Knot & Pop quickly connected the dots to make the magic happen.

With the founder of Knot & Pop from Scotland, thankfully Susie is always keeping an eagle eye for unique and never before used wedding venues. And we knew of the most perfect and magical place for their wedding celebrations that Susie had discovered the year before, almost to the day.

The Idea

A cheese shop on Mull was converted into a totally enchanting reception venue with central table dining and overhead floral installations, with many of the flowers used by Myrtle & Bracken, grown from her gardens.

A couple with artisanal style and impeccable taste, we designed the space, and sourced all the items needed to bring the day to life, to best mirror them. With it being a more intimate wedding we really wanted to personalise aspects for the couple and guests – from the personalised welcome drink with names etched on, to the notes for each guest from the couple, and the escort card boxes that contained painted pebbles as a gift to the guests.

The Details

We wanted to make Kaley and Ben’s day rich in moments and memories to give them a truly unique wedding day. And rich in moments it was – from the ceremony in the great Scottish mountain surrounds, to the convoy to Mull, to the most unique reception, the delicious five course tasting menu with local island chef and locally sourced produce, the outdoor first dance overlooking the hills, and the surprise song that Kaley sang to Ben, it was truly touching and captured the spirit of the couple, as they now adventure ahead together as Mr & Mrs.
